v0.3 Development Update: The Talents in the Endless
Content Release Plans
Hey everyone!
It's time for another update and this time, I have exciting things to talk about. But first, I want to share some release plans with you guys. From v0.3 onwards, I will be releasing version updates in an alternate cycle - Game Feature and Story Feature.
So what are these cycles? A cycle is basically a good way for me to release focused content updates, meaning with each update, players can expect what are some predictable content updates for the game.
A Game Feature release means that the game will have new playable characters in the content update, as well as some new game features implemented - stuff like a new game system or major content.
A Story Feature release means that the game will include a new story chapter in the main story as well as balance updates for the playable characters. It may also include new enemy types.
Content Update
For the upcoming v0.3 update, I have planned for this to be a Game Feature, meaning there will be 5 new playable characters and a new game feature. I'm delaying the story chapter for now mainly because the refactoring of the game system took a whole 3+ months to complete, which was longer than I have anticipated. Instead, I want to introduce a brand new game feature that I will be adding into the game - Talents.
Talents
What are Talents? Talents is a two-fold system - an achievement system as well as a character build system. Talents will improve the abilities of a playable character further. However, in order for players to access these Talents, they have complete a challenge associated with the Talent. Here is one of Noel's talents:
After unlocking a Talent, players will be able to equip them onto each character (up to 2 per character). Each character will have a total of 6 unlockable Talents to choose from. This exciting system will allow for more varied builds and player expression.
The Endless
In addition to the introduction of the Talents, I'm currently working on a feature known as the The Endless. In this mode, players will be able to participate in a rogue-like mode where players go on an "adventure" to fight monsters. Over the course the "adventure", players will be able to recruit more Hololive members into their party and fight tougher and tougher enemies. I don't have anything solid to show as of now, but hopefully I have something more concrete by the end of May.
Character Cards
In case you missed my tweet, I will also be releasing a character card featuring a playable character occasionally, so do look out for those!
Conclusion
Overall, I'm pretty much overwhelmed by the love and support I have been receiving from the community. I hope you guys continue to be patient with the team and myself as we work hard to develop this game. To end this post, here's a hint on another playable character that will be coming in v0.3.
